Victoria workplaces recognised for best-in-class digital connectivity

20 November 2017

Landsec’s Nova development, delivered by a 50:50 joint venture with CPPIB, and 80-100 Victoria Street have achieved the Wired Certified Platinum rating for digital connectivity. The Platinum rating is the highest award from internationally recognised WiredScore, which has been providing independent certification of UK buildings’ technological infrastructure since October 2015.

Both developments are part of Landsec’s £2.2bn reinvention of Victoria, making it an unparalleled destination in which to work, live and play. The rating recognises both buildings for world-class digital connectivity, giving its occupiers, which include Brambles, Child & Child and Advent International, reassurance that they are benefiting from the best connectivity the capital has to offer.

This rating follows Landsec’s 62 Buckingham Gate development receiving Wired Certified Platinum rating in February this year and emphasises Landsec’s vision to make Victoria the West End’s most resilient sub-market, and the best in futureproof workplace experience.

Design features which contributed to the Wired Certified Platinum rating include:

  • At least two diverse points of entry and two diverse vertical risers, reducing the risk of any single point of failure for customers who require diverse pathways
  • The physical presence of six independent internet service providers, giving customers flexibility, a strong negotiating position and a potentially shorter installation lead time (further helped by standard Wayleave agreements for all existing providers being kept on file)
  • Multiple resilient distribution routes through the buildings to each floor.

Neil Pennell, Head of Engineering and Design at Landsec, said: “We know how important great connectivity is to our customers, which is why we invest in building resilience into our developments as a priority. At Nova and throughout our Victoria portfolio, we’ve gone the extra mile in infrastructure provision, design and engineering innovation to offer our customers not just peace of mind, but competitive edge and the most dynamic workplace experience.”

William Newton, President & EMEA MD at WiredScore, said: “Landsec is setting a new standard for connectivity in West End offices. The expertise and experience in the team is vast; we’ve consistently watched them go above and beyond to overcome connectivity challenges for the benefit of their customers. Indeed, they demonstrate both commitment and knowledge in this area.”

About WiredScore

WiredScore is the international scheme that rates and provides transparency on the infrastructure, connectivity and technological capacity of office buildings. WiredScore was founded in New York in 2013 by leaders in real estate, technology and telecommunications, with an endorsement from Mayor Bloomberg, to improve the city’s technology infrastructure, and support its entrepreneurs who are driving technological advances and creating jobs.

Following success in the US with the adoption of the Wired Certification, WiredScore won the Greater London Authority’s tender to be the official Mayor of London Digital Connectivity Rating Scheme in October 2015. WiredScore now certifies properties across the entire UK. In 2017, WiredScore launched in France, Ireland , Germany and Canada. To date, more than 350 million sq. ft. of office space have been certified across North America and Europe.
