Landsec has celebrated the topping out of Lucent, its new office scheme located directly behind London’s iconic Piccadilly Lights, which will provide best-in-class office and retail space in the heart of London’s West End.
Amid the vibrancy of Soho, Covent Garden, Mayfair, and St James's, Lucent will create a unique opportunity for businesses looking to make a mark in the capital. The building will provide 110,000 sq ft of prime office space, with floor plates seven times larger than the average office currently available in the West End, ranging from 19,000 sq ft to 26,000 sq ft across Lucent’s six floors. The scheme is due to complete in Q4 2023.
Landsec aims for Lucent to be in the top 0.09% of the UK’s healthiest buildings, with plans to achieve a Gold WELL accreditation for the scheme. The space has been designed to optimise employee wellbeing and help businesses drive productivity. Lucent will feature 20 outdoor terraces, as well as generous north facing windows to maximise access to natural light. It will also be home to over 600 plants, including a three-storey-high green wall. Office floors will be positioned around a bright central atrium, the focal point of which will be a five-storey tall living tree.
The scheme also offers 30,000 sq ft of ground-floor retail and leisure space for brands looking to grow their presence in one of London’s best-known locations.
David Heaford, Managing Director for Development at Landsec said: “Demand for office space in prime central London locations has proved particularly resilient and continues to strengthen, with customers more focused on quality, sustainability, and employee well-being than ever before. Lucent has been designed with all of this in mind - with features to promote employee health, productivity and flexible ways of working. “Nature and wellness are at the building’s heart, which, coupled with its unbeatable location, will help future Lucent customers attract and retain talent in what will be a fantastic place to work.”
Lucent is designed by architects Fletcher Priest and construction is led by Wates.
